I’m honoured and delighted to accept the post of Shadow Minister for the Cabinet Office. Having served as Shadow Minister for Trade Unions and Civil Contingencies from September 2015, serving within the Shadow Cabinet Office Team, I’ve seen first-hand the importance of holding the government to account.
At this moment when trust in politics is low across the country, the Shadow Cabinet Office brief is one of the most important. I look forward to putting across Labour’s vision for a fairer, more democratic Britain from the despatch box.
I’d also like to pay tribute to Tom Watson, my predecessor in the role. Tom has been exemplary in holding the government to account and I wish him the best of luck in his new role as Shadow Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.
