Renaming zero hours contracts might suit the Tory election strategy but it won't ease the burden on working people's lives

To hear Iain Duncan-Smith talking about renaming zero hours contracts “flexible working contracts” today just shows how out of touch the Conservative Party really are.

 

To hear Iain Duncan-Smith talking about renaming zero hours contracts “flexible working contracts” today just shows how out of touch the Conservative Party really are.

He should come and talk to those struggling to make ends meet on zero hours contracts in my constituency – or those on any of the 1.8 million zero hours contracts across the country –  for a dose of reality. Changing the name might suit the Tory election strategy but it will not ease the burden on their lives.

Instead of addressing the real issues, the Tories are playing politics and as trade unionists, we just can’t trust them to act in our interest.

Ultimately, the Tories have proven time and time again that they are too busy propping up their wealthy friends to care about working people and what matters to us.
