Government intervenes in Northumberland's Conservative Council

Yesterday, I appeared on BBC Sunday Politics speaking, amongst other things, about the intervention of the Secretary of State in Northumberland following the Conservative administrations removal of an emerging planning strategy seven years in the making.

It is hugely concerning to learn that a new strategy is unlikely to be in place until 2020 following the hasty removal of the document leaving the County dependent on the plans of the old district and borough councils, which are out of date, until that point.

The Secretary of State is right to intervene and it begs the question of this new Tory administration at County Hall - "What is going on in Northumberland?”
