I was speaking to the BBC in Bedlington over the weekend about the Fire at Benet Biscop Academy.
Their report was surrounding the letter I have sent to the Government calling for Fire Sprinklers to be made mandatory in all new schools. The legal requirement for sprinklers in schools was introduced by labour in 2007, but it was scrapped by the Conservative's in 2016.
Campaigners in Bedlington have since started a petition calling for action on this serious issue.
We cannot afford to risk the lives of our children, or any resident using a public space. The Government must change the law immediately, to ensure our schools and students in Wansbeck are safe.
